Lockdown At The College Of Saint Rose Caused By Threat Of Rain
A college campus in Albany, New York was on lockdown apparently because of the threat of bad weather.
A well-meaning citizen flagged down a police officer on Western Avenue and reported seeing an individual walking into a college building with a weapon.
The security measures were taken at the College of Saint Rose’s Pine Hills campus at about noon on Thursday, May 23, 2013. The person was seen walking into school’s Events and Athletic Center carrying what looked like a sword.
Following an investigation and a review of security footage police determined that the item thought to be a weapon was actually an umbrella. Police were able to lift the lockdown after about forty-five minutes.
Despite the inconveniences caused by the lockdown an official with the school said they are still grateful for the “tip” and would rather err on the side of caution when the safety of the school’s students is at stake.
