Longtime 19th District Oneida County Legislator Ed Welsh won't be seeking a tenth term on the county board.

Welsh sent out a release to local media this week, saying he wanted to announce his intentions early to allow time for others to consider running for the seat, which is up for election again this November.

Welsh was first elected in 2001, and is now in his 18th year as a county legislator. He's held several posts on the board, including Parliamentarian and Vice Chairman of the Board, chair of the economic development and tourism committee, served other committees including government operations, ways and means and public works.

Welsh is also the Central Region GM of AAA New York, and WIBX listeners have known him as the host of Auto Talk on WIBX AM 950 for more than three decades.
