Julian Noga, the longtime host of Polonaise on WIBX, passed away on Friday.

Noga, 93, was a holocaust survivor who emigrated to the United States and later became host of the weekly Polish and international music program on WIBX for nearly a quarter of a century. His son Richard Noga (photo above) assisted with English translations and production until Julian's decision to retire from the show in August.

A fixture in the area's Polish-American community, Julian was also the focus of the book 'The Courtship of Julian and Frieda'. He and his future wife were imprisoned in concentration camps for their forbidden relationship during World War II. The couple later reunited and were married for 68 years until Freida's passing earlier this year. They had two children, Frieda and Richard.

Calling hours are scheduled for Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Myslinski Funeral Home on French Road in Utica. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church.
