A cow in New Hartford caused a stir for more than two hours after getting loose from its trailer.

New Hartford Police say they received a call at around nine this morning concerning a cow spotted near the NBT Bank on Seneca Turnpike.

The cow, which was said to be on its way to an auction, escaped from the open trailer.

It crossed the street near Merritt Place, then wandered toward the busy intersection near Veteran's Park, across from Utica National Insurance.

Police say the cow finally stopped at the Veteran's Park pond, where it was wrangled safely by the farmer.
