The Madison County Sheriff's Office held a retirement ceremony for one of their own.

The honoree was K-9 Kota for his dedicated years of service to the department.

K-9 Kota has been serving Madison County under the direction of his handler, Sgt. Burbidge, since 2011. For old times sake, Kota showed that he still had it in a Facebook video.

During his tenure, Kota was extensively trained in explosive detection, tracking and other important services.

For the past few months, Kota has been helping train his replacement K-9 Jada.

The Sheriff's Office is proud to have had K-9 Kota serve the citizens of Madison County for as long as he did.
