A major milestone has been reached in the $66.5 million project to reconstruct the North-South Arterial.

The Arterial re-opened all four lanes of traffic today, including the reconstructed on-ramp from Oriskany Street to Routes 5, 8, and 12 South.

The ramp from the Arterial to Court Street, along with one lane in each direction, will remain closed through next spring, as work continues to reconstruct the Court Street interchange.

New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Matthew Driscoll said, “Reopening all lanes on the North-South Arterial brings us one step closer to realizing a safer, more modern highway for Utica. By enhancing access and mobility through the city, we are working to ensure the transportation network supports Governor Cuomo’s commitment to making it easy for businesses to thrive and prosper in New York State.”

The project began in 2014 and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2017.
