A Niagara Falls man may have put a little too much faith in his front door lock after allegedly trying to hide in his apartment after being questioned by police.

45-Year-old Lance E. Morrison caught the attention of New York State Police when they say he did not signal prior to turning on Lafayette Avenue and Hyde Park Boulevard in Niagara Falls on Monday, July 13, 2015.

He was pulled over and troopers say that while they were speaking with him he tried to get out of the car with an alcoholic beverage in his hand.  Officials say the troopers smelled the odor of alcohol in the vehicle and told Morrison to remain in the car.

Instead, according to police, "Morrison exited his vehicle and ran into his apartment and locked the door. Morrison surrendered without further incident and was transported to SP Niagara for processing after he was administered and failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. His BAC results were 0.12%."

Morrison was arrested and charged with the following:

  • driving while intoxicated
  • obstructing governmental administration
  • driving without a license
  • executing an unsafe turn
Morrison is scheduled to go to court on July 21, 2015 to answer the charges.
