Utica, NY (WIBX) - An early morning confrontation landed a Utica man behind bars facing serious time. Utica police say they arrested 36-year-old Nathaniel Harvey, of Knox Street in Utica, after he brandished a handgun to threaten another man sitting on his front porch around 1:00 a.m.

They say Harvey got into an argument with the man because he was upset about the victim's relative owing him money. Police say the suspect then left the area on foot, but was followed by the victim, who alerted Special Ops officials who happen to be in the area at the time. The suspect was subsequently apprehended after he unsuccessfully tried to allude capture.

While taking Harvey into custody, police say a loaded 9mm handgun fell out of his wasteband. And, officials says he was also in possession of marijuana, and what appeared to be packaged heroine.

Harvey is facing the following charges:

  • 2nd Degree Menacing, a Misdemeanor
  • Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Misdemeanor
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a Class C felony
