Man Arrested After Fleeing Police
New Hartford, NY (WIBX) – A Schuyler man was arrested after leading Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies on a motor vehicle chase.According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year old Barry Smaldone was observed driving erratically on Route 8 in Bridgewater.
Smaldone refused to stop for police and continued to flee at a low rate of speed into the Town of Paris.
Deputies used a spike strip on Route 8 in New Hartford to flatten Smaldone’s tires and two deputies were able to take him into custody after a brief struggle.
Smaldone was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, unlawfully fleeing a police officer and several vehicle and traffic violations.
