A man who escaped the custody of New York State Parole officers was arrested after fleeing on foot and climbing onto the roof of a building in Herkimer.

Herkimer Police say 31-year old Dennis Ford was located on the roof of a two-story building behind the 100 block of North Main Street.

After about an hour of negotiations, Ford voluntarily came down from the roof.

Ford was turned over to New York State Parole and then transported to the Herkimer County jail on a parole warrant.

One officer received minor injuries during the incident.

Several local law enforcement agencies assisted in searching the area.
