Utica, NY (WIBX) - A Utica man is facing numerous charges after the car he was driving was stopped and then allegedly sped off from Utica Police officers during a DWI checkpoint.

Police say 25-year old Rasaad Dillard was stopped early Sunday morning at the corner
of Bleecker Street and Kossuth Avenue.

Dillard took off at a high rate of speed and police gave chase.

Police discontinued the pursuit when it became too dangerous.

Dillard eventually crashed his vehicle in the area of Potter and Whitesboro Streets.

Dillard is facing charges including DWI,  fleeing a police officer and reckless driving.
