Oriskany Man Arrested For Identity Theft

An Oriskany man has been arrested for stealing his own mother's identity.
State police in Marcy arrested Michael Smithling, 27, for one count of Identity theft.

Smithling allegedly used his mother's name to open a credit card account without her knowledge and charged over $9,000 to the card over a period of 4 weeks.

Smithling was arraigned and sent to the Oneida County Jail on $15,000 bail.
