SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a man brought to a Syracuse hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound has died.

Syracuse police say officers were called around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday to Upstate University Hospital after a wounded man in his late 30s arrived in a private vehicle. Police say he had been shot in the back and died a short time later from his injuries.

The man's name is being withheld until his family is notified.

Police say the man was shot on Ballantyne Road.

No arrests have been made. The investigation into the killing is underway.
