Utica, NY (WIBX) - A Utica couple is lucky to be alive after their upstairs neighbor accidentally discharged his 9-millimeter rifle, sending the bullet right through the ceiling separating the two apartments. Utica police say the round landed next to the couple's bed, after it went through a nearby desk.

An investigation revealed that 25-year-old Tiriece Holman of Kossuth Avenue, was unloading the weapon when he unintentionally discharged it. Officials say the blast caused part of the ceiling to fall on top of the sleeping couple. Holman, who police say was cooperative during their investigation, was taken to jail on a misdemeanor Reckless Endangerment charge.
