SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they've arrested a 47-year-old Syracuse man in connection with the fatal beating of a woman who had been assaulted last week.

Syracuse police say officers responded to a report of an assault early last Friday morning found 47-year-old Kimberly Rhoades inside her home bleeding from her head and complaining of pain to her abdomen.

The Syracuse woman was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where police say she died from her injuries on Saturday.

Police say a suspect, Kevin Johnson, turned himself in on Monday and was charged with manslaughter and burglary. He's being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center. It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer.

Authorities say Johnson, who knew Rhoades, has a lengthy criminal record.
