Man Charged In Former Ilion Woman’s Death

A North Carolina man is being held in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, a former Ilion woman whose body was found inside her car outside her home in Columbia, Maryland.

Detectives in Howard County say 43-year-old Ryan Matthias of Charlotte is awaiting extradition to Maryland to face charges connected to the killing of 47-year-old Deborah Castellano earlier this month.

They say the two had been arrested in New York in March for a domestic violence incident and that since then, Castellano had ended the relationship and moved to Maryland.

Police say Matthias continued to harass and stalk her.
