MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. (AP) — Police have arrested a man who they say stabbed another man to death in upstate New York.

State police say 31-year-old Samuel Del Cid Hernandez was arraigned on a murder charge Sunday and ordered held in jail without bail.

Authorities say the stabbing was reported in the Orange County village of Monroe around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Police arrived at the scene and found 25-year-old Louis Rivera dead of multiple stab wounds in an apartment building.

State police did not reveal a motive or say whether the men knew each other.

Acting Monroe Village Chief Anthony Amatetti says the stabbing was isolated, and there is no threat to the public.

An investigation into Rivera's death is ongoing.

A message left with the Legal Aid Society lawyer representing Hernandez wasn't returned.
