Man Charged With Possession Of Loaded Handgun At Walmart

A South Carolina man has been charged with having a loaded handgun at the Walmart on Commercial Drive.

New Hartford Police say 26-year old Willie Alexander had been involved in a shoplifting incident at store

Police say Alexander fled the store and was allegedly trying to get rid of the handgun in the parking lot.

They say Alexander fought with a store loss prevention officer before officers arrived and took him into custody.

Alexander was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and petty larceny, with additional charges pending.

Another man who was with Alexander, 20-year old Tevin Joyner of South Carolina, was also arrested on shoplifting charges.
