ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — An ex-convict has been found guilty of fatally stabbing his estranged wife and his 18-year-old daughter inside the family's Rochester home last year.

A Monroe County Court jury deliberated about seven hours over two days before convicting 38-year-old Patrick Brooks on Wednesday on two counts of second-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Brooks had Thanksgiving dinner with Christie Brooks and her daughter Victoria, a freshman at Canisius College in Buffalo. Authorities say he returned to the home later in the night and stabbed his wife nearly 30 times as she slept.

He then stabbed Victoria 55 times.

The victims' bodies were found the next morning. Christie Brooks, who turned 35 on Thanksgiving, had filed for divorce in 2015.

Patrick Brooks faces 15 years to life to 25 years to life when he's sentenced Dec. 20.
