It has been a rough week for homicide investigators in Rome.

Police responded to a shots fired call just before 11:00 last night to find a man in the street suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was unresponsive and pronounced dead on the scene.

The victim's identity is not being released pending notification of his family.

Stevens Street, running north and south between William and West Thomas, is being considered an active crime scene and is closed as police continue their investigation.
