SALINA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they're investigating the shooting of a man who was found wounded inside his vehicle near a Thruway exit outside Syracuse.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (http://bit.ly/2jlYFWX ) the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded around 1:45 a.m. Monday to a 911 call reporting a shooting near the Thruway's Exit 36 tool booth in the town of Salina.

When deputies arrived they found a man in his 30s suffering from a gunshot wound. He was in a vehicle on Interstate 81's southbound exit ramp to Interstate 90 just north of Syracuse.

The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment of injuries that officials say appear to be life-threatening. No other information has been released.

I-81's exit ramp was closed until around 6 a.m. as police investigated.
