Man Hired To Portray ‘Wizard Of Oz’ Character Charged With DWI

A Cortland man who told State Police he had been hired to portray a character from "The Wizard of Oz" in Chittenango this past weekend has been accused of drunk driving.

Police responded to a home on Perryville Road in the Town of Sullivan for a report of an intoxicated man on private property.

Troopers say 31-year old Nicholas Sherman had driven to the home with another man and was asked to leave by the homeowner.

Sherman was arrested and charged with Aggravated DWI.  Police say he had a BAC of .19 percent.
