Man Pleads Guilty In DWI Crash That Killed Central NY Teen
AUBURN, N.Y. (AP) — A 33-year-old central New York man has pleaded guilty in the alcohol-related crash that killed a recent high school graduate last month.
Dain Schneider of Owasco pleaded guilty Tuesday in Cayuga County Court to aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Prosecutors say Schneider had been drinking the night of July 27 when he drove nearly 100 mph on a road in Owasco and rear-ended an SUV being driven by 18-year-old Chloe Calhoun, who had graduated a month earlier from Auburn High School. She died later at a Syracuse hospital.
Authorities say Schneider's blood-alcohol content was .23 percent, nearly three times the legal limit.
Schneider faces seven to 24 years in prison when he's sentenced Oct. 18.
