ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A Rochester man has pleaded guilty in connection with a shootout at a house party in the city last year that left two people dead and three bystanders wounded.

The Monroe County District Attorney's Office says 30-year-old William James pleaded guilty Wednesday to manslaughter for the shooting death of John Rudolph.

Prosecutors say James went to a party at a house on Woodward Street on Sept. 12, 2015. The 36-year-old Rudolph and Herbert Thomas also attended the party.

Authorities say during a dispute James and Rudolph exchanged gunfire inside the crowded house. Rudolph and Thomas were both killed and James and three others were wounded.

James will be sentenced Oct. 19 to 18 years in state prison.
