Man Shot, Crashes Car On Utica Parkway And Later Dies

What may have seemed like an out of control diver on the Parkway in Utica is now a homicide investigation.

Police say the man who drove his vehicle over a median and onto the lawn of a dentist’s office on Parkway was suffering from a gunshot wound. Andrew Mateo, 25, of Utica was shot following an argument on Dickinson Street sometime around 5:30 Thursday evening, police said in a news release.

Mateo fled in his vehicle only to lose control on the Parkway.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center were he later died of his injuries.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Utica Police (315) 223-3510. All calls will be kept confidential.
