Man Shot, Wounded in Downtown Ithaca’s Retail, Bar District
ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a man his hospitalized with gunshot wounds and a suspect is in custody after a shooting in Ithaca's popular retail and entertainment district.
Ithaca police say the shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in front of a bar on the Ithaca Commons.
Police say the victim was in serious but stable condition at a local hospital. The victim's name hasn't been released.
Officials say a 22-year-old man armed with a handgun was taken into custody soon after the shooting. Police say the man was being charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police say the shooting wasn't a random act of violence.
Ithaca Commons is a four-block pedestrian mall in the city's downtown area featuring shops and restaurants.
