The Herkimer Police Department participated in Memorial Day Weekend sobriety checkpoints in an effort to prevent drunk driving. As a result they arrested two individuals.

One of the men is 57-year-old Duane Larochelle of Palantine Bridge, NY. He was found to be allegedly driving while intoxicated. It was learned by authorities that Larochelle had his license revoked as a result of six prior DWI convictions. As a result he was arrested and charged with DWI and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle. He was arraigned in Herkimer Village Court and remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

Another man arrested on DWI charges was 33-year-old David Currie of Mohawk. He was processed and released on an appearance ticket to return to Village Court at a later date.
