A manhunt continues this morning for three suspects who are believed to have been involved in the fatal shooting of a police officer in Illinois.

Thirty-year police veteran Lieutenant Charles Gliniewicz was shot and killed on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 while responding to a call about a suspicious person.

By the time backup arrived Officer Gliniewicz was found shot, stripped of his weapon.

Nothing is known of the suspects except that they are believed to be two Caucasian men and one African American man.

Authorities have asked residents of Fox Lake, Illinois to shelter in place this morning while they continue to search for the suspects.

Several agencies are involved in the search at this hour including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and more than a hundred police officers.
