The Marcy Correctional Facility is on lockdown after correction officers found 90 makeshift weapons in a 24 hour period.

That's according to the New York State Correctional Officer and Police Benevolent Association, which represents New York State correction officers.

Officers, acting on a tip, started searching a dormitory on Wednesday and found 14 weapons.

Department of Corrections officials ordered the facility be locked down until further notice after another search turned up a total of 52 weapons by late Wednesday evening.

Searches continued yesterday, resulting in the discovery of an additional 38 weapons.

The facility will remain on lockdown until three more housing units and other areas are searched.
