A Marcy woman has been arrested and is facing charged for aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.

State Police patrolling in the Town of Lee observed erratic driving of a vehicle crossing the center line on Rome Westernville Road. The vehicle then took a wide turn onto Potter Road. As a result State Police initiated a traffic stop.

Following an investigation police found that 34-year-old Rachel Swinney was allegedly operating her vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol. After being transported to the State Police barracks in Lee, a breath test revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .22%. That is nearly three times the legal limit.

Swinney was charged with Aggravated DWI for a BAC over .18% and other vehicle and traffic violations. She was issued an appearance ticket and released. She will appear in Rome City Court in April.
