Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville is now officially open at Destiny USA in Syracuse.

A ribbon cutting was held on Monday morning at its 3rd floor 'Destiny' location, New York's State's first for the Key West themed restaurant.  Temperatures were set at a comfortable 70 degrees inside the Syracuse mall; while outside, a winter storm was plowing through Central New York.

According to the chain's website, those on hand for the opening were treated to a ribbon cutting and a toast, followed by the official public opening at 11 a.m..

The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday until midnight and Fridays and Saturdays until 2 a.m..  Live music is featured 7 days a week.

The first Margaritaville opened in the 1980's in Alabama as a retail shop; that location was short lived.

Buffet's first successful operation came in 1985, at the Key West, FL. location on Duval Street. It started as a retail merchandising store and later morphed into the restaurant business its known for today, after his company teamed with the owners of Outback Steakhouse to develop the current concept.  The restaurants, named after the 1977 Jimmy Buffet song, Margaritaville, feature two bars, a dining area, a live stage and a merchandise shop.

Just in case you're keeping track, it was sunny and 76 degrees at Margaritaville's Key West location on Monday.
