The athletes may be a little older, but the level of competition will still be high at this year's Senior Olympics held at the Masonic Care Community.

On Wednesday, seniors from Oneida and Herkimer Counties will compete in various events, including golf, basketball and bowling.

Awards are given for individual efforts and for overall Team Champion.

Opening ceremonies begin at 10, and will feature remarks by Congressman Richard Hanna and a torch lighting by the event's oldest participant.

The Senior Olympics are sponsored by Activities Association District 5.
