The Masonic Care Community is marking the 46th anniversary of Earth Day.

Three and four-year olds from the Child Care Center planted 20 apple trees on the grounds of the Utica campus on Friday.

Officials say the children learned about the environment, the role of bees and other insects and the importance of investing in our planet’s resources.

A working farm operated on the 440 acre property at the Masonic Care Community until 1969.  “While the farm is no longer here, planting apple trees will allow us to return to that time” said Bob Butler, Director of  MCC Building and Grounds.
