One of the drivers in a head-on crash May 28 on Route 79 in the Town of Fenton has passed away.

Family members say Charles Furman of Binghamton died last week at Wilson Hospital.

Furman was driving east shortly before 9 p.m. when his car crossed into the path of a westbound pickup truck.

Other people in the two vehicles suffered what appeared to be minor injuries.

Family members say Furman is predeceased by his brother Bob, who died 30 days earlier, also as result of a traffic accident.

A few hours after the crash, Broome County Sheriff’s officials had released a statement saying, while their investigation was underway, speed and alcohol consumption appeared to be significant factors.
