Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica Mayor David Roefaro is reacting to figures released by the Census Bureau late last week that show Utica's population increased to over 62,000 residents.

Roefaro says Utica has outperformed many other cities in the state and the country.

He says the numbers solidify Utica as the undeniable hub and nucleus of Oneida County.

Roefaro says his master plan will propel more growth and carry Utica to another increase in 2020.

The Mayor also says the population increase protects the city from Community Development Block Grant cuts and other federal funding appropriations roadblocks.
