Nearly a dozen New York Mayors and County Executives, including Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri,  have sent a letter to Governor Cuomo and legislative leaders, asking them to pass statewide ride sharing.

The local leaders emphasized that 47 states around the country have access to ride sharing services like Uber, but after years of debate, New Yorkers are still left out.

They say the time for debate is over and now is the time to act.

The letter comes after a number of Upstate Mayor, including Rome Mayor Jacqueline Izzo, joined the NYNeedsUber coalition.
