Utica, NY (WIBX) - Yesterday, several local media outlets came together to pour and serve drinks at the first Saranac Thursday of the season. Mother Nature decided to pour some of her own liquid too--the brief but heavy rain left many soaking wet however, it certainly didn't dampen any spirits. The band, Crazy Fools kept the music going through the rain and really did a great job keeping bodies moving to the beats they cranked out on stage. It was a great start to the 2011 summer season in the Mohawk Valley.

Nick Matt, CEO of F.X. Matt Brewery, was also in attendance and made his round greeting all those who came out to volunteer to serve the great brew he along with his team produce at Saranac Brewery. There were many other familiar faces in the jubelant crowd--From members of the men and women Utica Rugby teams, to local community leaders, lammakers and other officials.

This year, organizers instituted some changes. You'll notice a more organized way to get your drinks. Attendees no longer have to hand their tickets to the servers, instead, there is a designated person ready to collect them as you leave the line after getting your beverage. Some said they prefer the old way, but others said they thought the new way was organized and efficient. Summer is here! And what a great way to welcome it with the first Saranac Thursday.
