Brightwaters Farms wants to grow medical marijuana at its greenhouses on Herkimer Road in North Utica.

An informational meeting was held Monday night at the North Utica Senior Center to answer questions about the state's new medical marijuana program and Brightwater's plans to be a producer for the program.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi co-hosted the meeting. Brindisi says the potential for medicinal marijuana in New York is huge.

Anthony Qunital of Brightwaters Farms says the growing operation would mean 100 jobs high-end jobs including engineers and pharmacists, plus an additional 100 jobs for growers, pickers, delivery persons and security.

The state is expected to issue five licenses for medical marijuana growing operations by the end July.
