AAA is predicting about 38 million people will be traveling 50 miles or more from home on Memorial Day Weekend.

Ed Welsh of AAA Central New York says that's the second highest travel volume for the holiday ever and the most since 2005.

He says lower gas prices are helping to boost travel.  Welsh says motorists will be paying about 40 cents a gallon less for gas than they were a year ago.

The average price in the Utica-Rome area is currently $2.36 a gallon.

Welsh says he think prices will remain in the $2.35 to $2.45 a gallon range for most of the summer.
