Syracuse, NY (WIBX) - On Wednesday, November 23, Sister Rose Vincent Gleason, OSF, passed away peacefully at Jolenta Convent, Syracuse.

Sister Rose Vincent Gleason ministered for almost 50 years at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Sister started her nursing ministry as a bedside nurse at St. Elizabeth's, gradually becoming an assistant administrator. Sister Rose Vincent Gleason was the center's CEO for 30 years.

According to Richard Ketcham, the current President/CEO of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, it was Sister Rose Vincent’s wish to have her funeral in Syracuse as is the tradition of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities.

Ketcham adds that Sister was such an important part of the Utica Community that it's important to have a local tribute to her, as well.

The Memorial Mass to honor Sister Rose Vincent will be held at  Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2222 Genesee Street, Utica on  Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10 a.m.
