Mental Evaluation Ordered For Teen Using Bath Salts

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica police are reporting the apprehension of a teen--deemed to be mentally ill--after responding to a "Bath Salts" related disturbance call, on the 200 block of North Genesee Street. They say the young man's father requested he be taken to the hospital for evaluation, after the 18-year-old supposedly talked about hearing voices, and wanting to eat people, even cutting himself to taste his own blood. His father also told police his son even talked about ripping babies apart to eat them.

Police say the teen had been under the influence of bath salts for two days. "and cocaine, acid, angel dust and LSD over the past seven days," a statement from UPD states. He was taken into custody and transported to St. Luke's Hospital for a mental health evaluation.
