Mets Rally To Tie, But Lose In 10th
Hector Sanchez's two RBI-single in the top of the tenth-inning off of Frank Francisco (0-1) pushed the San Francisco Giants past the Mets 4-3 at Citi Field on Friday night.
The Mets rallied to tie the game at 3 in the ninth with a Josh Thole RBI single, scoring Jason Bay. Bay and rookie center field Kirk Nieuwenhuis each had solo-blasts on the night.
New York missed a chance to tie or win it in the tenth, with runners on second and third and just one out. Clay Hensely struck out Bay and got a fly ball from Lucas Duda to end it, earning his first save.
Sergio Romo (1-0) was credited with the win.
Mets starter Jonathon Niese (2-0), took a no-decision after seven hits and three earned runs in six innings.
Mike Pelfey will look to stop New York's three-game slide on Saturday afternoon at 1:10 against Ryan Vogelson (0-1).
