Middleville Woman Charged with Welfare Fraud

A Middleville woman is facing several charges related to alleged welfare fraud.

The Herkimer County Sheriff's Office reports that 34-year-old Gail Schaffer received over $5,000 in SNAP benefits she was not entitled to between September 2016 and August 2017.

Schaffer is charged with Felony Welfare Fraud, Grand Larceny and Offering a False Instrument for Filing. She was arraigned in Village of Ilion court and is scheduled to return on August 25th, 2017.
