West Winfield, NY (WIBX) – For the third time in seven years, the annual Miller Mills Ice Harvest has fallen victim to the mild weather.

Organizers have been forced to cancel this year’s event, scheduled for Sunday, February 12th, due to a lack of ice.

They say although there is some ice on the pond, the shoreline is open and presents a serious danger to workers and visitors.

With no serious cold spell on tap over the next ten days, the group says it had little choice but to cancel the event.

The lack of  ice will have no effect on the Miller’s Mills Grange’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social, set for July 15th.
