Millionaire Robert Durst Returning To Court In New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Millionaire Robert Durst is going back to court in New Orleans.
His lawyers say the 71-year-old Houston man was illegally arrested on charges that he murdered a female friend in California and on weapons charges in New Orleans. And they say his arrest was orchestrated to coincide with the last episode of the HBO show about him.
A New Orleans magistrate has scheduled a preliminary hearing on the weapons charges. One charge alleges he had a .38-caliber revolver; previous felony convictions make that illegal. The other charge says he had the weapon and illegal drugs: a bit more than 5 ounces of marijuana.
William Gibbens and Dick DeGuerin outlined their arguments in court papers filed last week.
Durst was arrested March 14 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in New Orleans.
