Mohawk Man Charged With Welfare Fraud

A Mohawk man has been arrested on welfare fraud charges.

The Herkimer County Sheriff's Office says 45-year old Edward McGowan is accused of fraudulently receiving over 91-hundred worth of benefits over a period of time.

McGowan is charged with welfare fraud, grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing.

McGowan was arraigned in the Village of Herkimer Court. He was sent to the Herkimer County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
