Marcy, NY (WIBX) - There is a new group looking to support manufacturing and create area jobs. A host of state and local VIP's were at a local college to announce it.

C-GAM, or the Center for Global Advanced Manufacturing, is a joint, non-profit partnership of leaders from both the Hudson and Mohawk Valleys who will - together - create new opportunities for manufacturing.

They will provide not only assistance with research and design but also marketing.

SUNYIT President Wolf Yeigh has high hopes for the partnership.

Joining Yeigh were New York State Office of General Services Commissioner, and former Assemblywoman, RoAnn Destito, State Senator Joseph Griffo, and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi stressed the importance that manufacturing jobs play in the local economies of both areas, and the benefit of the partnership in the current economic climate.

State Senator Joseph Griffo says that collaborative efforts must be embraced as times and challenges change.

Office of General Services Commissioner RoAnn Destito, on behalf of Governor Andrew Cuomo, called attention to the many organizations that have come together to form the partnership.
