PENFIELD, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities have released more information on an apparent murder-suicide in western New York that also left a third person hospitalized with serious injuries.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says a woman was found slain Wednesday morning inside her home in Penfield, just east of Rochester. Officials say less than an hour later deputies found 75-year-old Florence Ford suffering from serious injuries inside her home in nearby Riga.

Police say the dead woman's husband, who was Ford's son, was later found dead in his car from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a suburb of Erie, Pennsylvania.

Officials identified the husband as 52-year-old Arnold Ford Jr.

Florence Ford is in critical condition in a Rochester hospital.

Police haven't released the wife's name pending positive identification. Authorities believe both women were bludgeoned.
