Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Several school districts in Broome County are signing on to a new collection and enforcement program for school district taxes.

County Executive Jason Garnar’s office says Maine Endwell and Union Endicott become the 8th and 9th districts joining the program.  Binghamton, Chenango Forks, Chenango Valley, Deposit, Johnson City, Susquehanna Valley and Whitney Point are already on board.

Taking the collection and enforcement off the shoulders of the districts is expected to save those districts money and generate 12-thousand dollars in revenue for the County.

In addition to helping out the districts, the program is expected to simplify the collection process for the public.  Residents can make on-line payments via credit and debit cards and e-checks.  They can also pay on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Town of Union Town Hall on East Main Street in Endwell for the ME and UE taxes and the Finance Window on the second floor of the Broome County Office Building beginning in September.
