CORINTH, N.Y. (AP) — Officials in upstate New York have identified the victims in a fatal house fire as mother of nine and her 15-year-old daughter.

Crews responded to a blaze in Corinth in the southern Adirondacks around 10:45 a.m. Monday. Authorities say firefighters couldn't enter the home at first because of intense smoke and heat.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says 39-year-old Tonya Slimmer and her 15-year-old daughter, Briaunna, died in the blaze. Officials say three others who were in the house have been hospitalized. Relatives say the injured are three of Slimmer's other children, ages 1, 3 and 20.

The home was badly damaged by the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
